Comments
The leaf-shaped tray, with shallow sides, displays a scene painted in shades of gray, orange, and rose, showing three Chinese figures, the leftmost sitting at a table-like surface with a teapot and two tea cups. In the center, an elderly man sits in front of a gnarled leafless tree, apparently in conversation with a third person.
The inside bottom of the tray has an orange-peel surface, an intentional decorative feature of some Chinese porcelain. A double line in deep red separates the bottom from the sides. The outside bottom of the tray is unglazed.
