Comments
This little molded dish, decorated with vertical ribs around the body and a gentle scalloping around the rim, has a silver lusterware (lustre) glaze over an earthenware body. The small size of the dish suggests that it might have been used for salt or a similar condiment. Salt corrodes silver, making this similar-looking vessel an appropriate substitute.
For another example of silver luster, see a pitcher, accession no. 1971.819.
