Comments
On June 6, 1890, silhouette artist Henry Ackley Sackett (1859-1938) stamped the back of this silhouette with his name, the date, and the place—namely, Willard’s Hotel (now known as The Willard) in Washington, D.C., situated a block from the White House. Mary Corbit Warner, known as Mollie, signed the front and the back, thus identifying herself as the sitter. She is shown from the left profile with a high hair style or wearing a hat. She also wears a necktie that projects forward, above a ruffled blouse.
Sara Clark Corbit accompanied her aunt, Mrs. Warner, and also had her silhouette taken (accession no. 2004.24).
