Comments
The pair of plates has a brightly colored transfer-printed image in the center of a group of different sea shells and sea weeds. The plate rim has a narrow gilded line around the inside edge and a wider gilded band of half-rounds around the plate edge, which has eight very shallow shaped lobes. The glaze covering the plates is lightly tinted blue to impart a color white color, suggestive of porcelain bodies and in the manner of pearlwares made in the beginning of the 19th century.
