The nutcracker is made of two cast arms attached by a three-part hinge. The nut-cracking surfaces are rectangular with regularly spaced "burred" projections cast in. The curved handles are separated from the cracking surfaces by a turned section of two reels separated by a ring. The outside of the cracking section has crescent-shaped stamped decoration.
