Comments
This broad, shallow hanging box has a well at the top with curved sides. The open cavity below originally held a drawer, now missing. Two wrought-iron hanging loops are nailed to the back of the back board. Base moldings around three sides are nailed in place. All of the early nails are T-headed. Later round-headed nails reinforce some places. The earlier nails are deeply oxidized round them. There is no evidence of earlier paint on this box.
This simple object displays no regional characteristics except for the types of wood used in it.
