One side of the basket has a 4-inch by 9-inch hole.
The large, low, cylindrical basket is woven to a narrow neck in the center. The open hole is covered by a woven lid. An arched handle attached to opposite sides allows the basket to be carried. The basket was used by putting baby birds into the hole and then covering them.
