Condition Notes

Provenance
This side chair and three others (accession no. 1981.71) were purchased from the estate of Miss Margaret Janvier Hort. She said that the set had been owned by Thomas Janvier (1773-1852) of New Castle, Delaware.
Comments
This side chair, acquired with three others (accession no. 1981.71) as noted above in "Provenance," differs slightly in painted decoration from the other three chairs, which survive in excellent condition. Paint decoration differs in the thickness and placement of lines, and in the base color, which is a mustard instead of a deeper brown.
Please set that accession record for further information about this fancy chair.
