Comments
This blown, globular-shaped decanter has three rings around the neck that help the user grasp it firmly to pour. These rings are triple bands, similar to those on decanters made by Thomas Cains of the Phoenix Glass Works of South Boston, Massachusetts. However, other glass houses likely used this form of decoration. The stopper is blown. Before blowing, it was dipped into a ribbed mold. After blowing it to shape, the optical effects of the ribbing remain. The underside of the decanter is raised and retains a pontil mark.
