Comments

This cut-glass compote has a shallow bowl atop a pedestal-like stem.  The foot is a thick disc with a polished pontil on the underside.  Twenty-four cut ovals encircle the bowl near the stem.  The inverted baluster-shaped stem has seven cut facets.  The rim is cut with ten double-ogee scallops, each with a cut oval below the edge.  The relatively sparse, but effective, cutting on this compote suggests the likelihood that it is an early example on 19th century cut glass.
