Comments
The small candlestick has a cylindrical socket above a double-reel shaft attached to an equilateral triangular base. Despite the small size and lack of a bobeche to catch wax drippings (an indication of its early time of manufacture), the socket fits a normal candlestick.
The dating and place of origin derive from two similar candlesticks in the collection of the Victorian and Albert Museum. See accession nos. M.1099-1926 and M.1099A-1926.
