Comments
This bowl or small hand basin is finely decorated in underglaze blue and enamels of green, orange, rose, light brown, and gray. The inside of the bowl features a detailed Chinese genre picture showing Chinese figures outside an open pavilion and within a Chinese gardenscape. Four small reserves showing Chinese figures decorate the interior walls, separated by floral sprig motifs. The top of the rolled basin rim features a blue geometric band. The outside of the basin is undecorated; it stands on a foot ring.
This bowl has similar decoration to an accompanying water bottle, accession no. 1959.3694.
