Comments
The molded bowl, probably intended for preparing or serving food, has straight, outward-canted sides and a thick band at the rim. The outside is decorated in blue applied in a mottled pattern on white. The decorative pattern is popularly called spongeware or sponge-decorated, although unlike earlier iterations, use of a sponge is not evident.
The bowl exhibits a crazed or craqueled pattern in the white glaze, which is likely intentional.
Removal of the lowermost part of the foot was likely done to eliminate or minimize damage to the foot. This strategy occurs on other objects acquired through the David Wilson Mansion, Inc.
