Comments
The large molded bowl, coated inside and out in a mottled brown glaze, has a thick molded rim and stands on a molded foot. The outside walls of the bowl have shallow, triangular panels that drop down from another faint dentil course immediately below the rim molding. This molded decoration around the outside suggests that the bowl was intended to be seen, perhaps on a washstand where it would function as a basin for washing. It might also have been used as a mixing bowl, although the molded decoration seems superfluous.
This bowl is very similar in size, shape, and glaze decoration to accession no. 2020.51, except the latter does not have raised decoration around the outside of the body.
