The two pencil sketches show two versions of the Lenape Indian metal sculpture intended for installation at the family cabin on the Bohemia River, Maryland, of H. Rodney Sharp. The sculpture depicts a standing Lenni Lenape Indian with a drawn bow. He wears a feathered headdress, a loincloth, and moccasins. The sculpture was made in 1837 by metalworker Victor Kozlowshito of Victor & Shields, Inc., Wilmington Delaware, to Schoonover's design (invoice dated June 28, 1937, in the object file). It remained at the family cabin until 2018 and is now on longterm loan to Historic Odessa (accession no. 2019.14).
The sketches differ in posture and orientation, sketch 2019.150.2 being closer to the final composition.
