Comments
The tilt-top stand has a lathe-turned top with a rim at the edge. The shaft is a column atop urn and reel turnings. It stands on three cabriole legs ending in pointed plain feet on integral pad bases. A box or birdcage, as it is popularly known, fits over the round tenon at the top end of the shaft. The box, formed by two square blocks separated by four baluster-turned colonnettes, allows the table top to rotate and stand in an upward position. The top attaches to the box by two cleats screwed into the underside.
