The paper is beginning to delaminate from the metal pin.

Provenance

Ex coll. Mrs. E. Tatnall (Mary Corbit) Warner.  This pin was originally assigned an accession number of 1971.1540, indicating that it was part of the large collection of objects on the Corbit and Wilson House sites.  Because of a registrarial mix-up involving duplicate numbers, it was given its present number in 2018.

Comments

The souvenir pin illustrates a printed paper view of Erbach Castle, a structure along the Danube River that originated in the 12th century.  It was enlarged in subsequent centuries, including the spire visible on the pin which was constructed at the end of the 15th century.  The castle remains in private hands.  As related in the accompanying tag, Mrs. E. Tatnall (Mary Corbit) Warner visited the site in February 1909.

The crudely cast pin has a dark green material coloring the four hollows around the central roundel.
