Comments

The portrait of Daniel Corbit (1796-1877), the sole surviving son of William Corbit, builder of the Corbit-Sharp House, shows a middle-aged man with receding grayish hair wearing a dark coat with a stiff white collar and cravat, against a dark background.  He married Eliza Naudain (1810-1844) in 1833 and Mary Corbit Wilson (1811-1880) in 1847.  Her portrait is acc. no. 1971.1035.

The painting is housed in a gilded wood frame with applied molded composition ornament in the corners.
