Comments
This large slip-cast oval platter has a fishscale-molded rim with a scalloped edge composed of leafy scrolls. The edge is colored wit cobalt blue, although the quick decorating does not follow the molded design. The clear glaze protective coating has a blue tint, which was intended to make the white earthenware body appear more like a porcelain body. Such earthenwares were marketed as pearlware.
