“R C” is stamped into the center of the bottom, below the makers' touchmarks.

Condition Notes

The plate is pitted and oxidized all over.  The plate bottom is worn in the center where the touchmarks are.

Comments

This 9-inch plate has a hammered booge (the rounded surface along the plate bottom) and a smooth brim with a reinforcing reed cast into the plate on the underside of the brim.  The underside of the bottom is very worn, but the distinctive outlines of a shell, with the name "HENRY"  at the top and a few letters of "JOSEPH" below.  Joseph's partner Francis Piggott likely struck his mark to the left, in an area that has almost entirely worn away.

The R C initials are likely those of an owner.
