Comments
The high, narrow neck, small triangular handle, and extension of the twig handle into the raise work of the body are among features of this pitcher that suggest a later time of manufacture. Its ceramic body is also a white, rather than yellow, earthenware, representing a significant departure, as does the unglazed outside bottom. Although rendered differently, the scenes on each side capture the movement and excitement of earlier pitchers: they show hunting dogs chasing a wild boar on one side and a stag with dogs on the other. Oak leaves decorate the neck.
