Condition Notes

The brass pull is a replacement.  The drawer front has a new facing:  the thick mahogany veneer covers earlier post holes from previous bail brasses.  The rail above drawer cavity has a beaded edge unlike the other three sides; the rail is a replacement.  The top appears to be a replacement using old wood.  Oxidation on the undersides of the drop leaves is different from that of the fixed top, indicating different origins.  No scars from using the swivel leaf-supports are visible on the undersides of the leaves, and there is no oxidation or other evidence of age under the swivels themselves.

Comments

This federal-style table has been made up of old parts to resemble a Philadelphia table of about 1800 to 1815.  Some of the table parts have been enhanced.  For descriptive details of the table, see condition notes.
