Comments
The wide and curved blade has a rounded tip and bone handle made of two pieces pinned onto the blade tang. Each side of the handle has incised crosshatching.
William Jackson (1814-1894) of Sheffield was in partnership with Richard Ashton until the latter died in 1846. Jackson continued the business for a few years but began working under his name only. In 1853 he moved his business to Sheaf Island Works. The single name stamped into this table knife suggests it was made about 1850, between Jackson's other ventures.
