One upright board appears to be a replacement. The other split at the outside of one leg and has been nailed and glued together.

Comments
The rectangular footstool stands on two inclined boards cut to form legs on the bottom. The undercutting is a double-ogee arch. Face boards attached below the top board are boldly cut into deep ogees in the middle that meet to form abutting half-rounds. They have ogee shaping outside the inclined boards.
The footstool is painted a deep or dark red. The paint covers all surfaces, including the underside and repairs.
