Comments
The bulbous body has a slender neck that flares outward. A strap handle is applied to one side, opposite a small pouring lip. A molded pewter lid and shell-decorated handle attaches to the ewer handle with a pewter strap. The broad, rounded foot has a molded strip of pewter wrapped around it and joined by solder. The underside of the bottom is unglazed and shows the arced marks of cutting it from the potter’s wheel.
The ewer body is decorated in blue with a landscape of buildings, stylized trees, and large five-petaled flowers whose stems form a V under the spout.
The scratched inscriptions on the lid appear to be of later origin.
