Comments
The steel pick is nickel coated to prevent any oxidation or alteration in the metal surface. It has a pointed steel pin projecting from the end, held in place by a screw. The pick and an extra pin are housed in a cardboard box with a printed label on the lid.
The maker, Edward Parkinson, was a machinist listed in Providence business directories beginning in 1880. By the late 1890s, he worked for the American Nickel Plating Co.
