Comments
The elaborate and colorful candlestick features a boy in a tricorn hat, holding a glass of wine in his left hand, and leaning against a tree trunk covered with white lilies, grapes clusters, and fruits. Legs crossed, he stands on a white, asymmetrically scrolled base with purple and gold highlights. He wears a red coat and green-and-red patterned breeches. A yellow candle socket above out-swept leaves forming a bobeche is at the top of the tree.
The candlestick is paired with one having a young woman or girl, accession no. 1959.3753.
