"Mary Rivers Sc / LONDON / Published As the / Act Directs / May 18 1843” is cast into the back of the bust. “Elizabeth Fry / an / English Quaker” is written in pencil on the bottom.

Copied from an alabaster bust made by Mary Rivers in 1843
The small molded plaster bust is of Elizabeth Gurney Fry (1780-1845), a well-known Quaker of Norwich, England, whose efforts in prison reform came to the attention of Queen Victoria. The bust was taken from one made by Mary Rivers in 1843.
