Condition Notes
The unpainted wood surfaces have weathered considerably. Two legs at one end have become loose in their sockets, although attached. They may be replacements. The cross battens have split; one has been reattached with modern screws and nails.
Provenance
The bench was found on the premises, where it had apparently been for many years.
Comments
The 1-3/4 inch thick rectangular board stands on four rounded legs. Those still firmly affixed have a single wedge driven into the top. The legs on the opposite side look different, having knots and lacking similar chamfering, and may be weathered replacements. The weathering obscures wood identification. The fasteners on the undisturbed side appear to be of 19th century origin.
