Comments
The large molded bowl, coated inside and out in a mottled brown glaze, has a thick molded rim and stands on a molded foot. It is very similar to another example (accession no. 1971.1504)--both in size and character of the mottled glaze--except this bowl has no surface ornamentation molded into the outside. The bowl may have been placed in a washstand and used for washing, in which case it would be called a basin, or it may have functioned as a mixing bowl.
