Comments
The traditionally made barrel has staves held in place by hickory hoops, rather than modern metal hoops. The stenciled "trade mark" on a barrel end or lid suggests a time of manufacture no earlier than the late 19th century. This barrel is similar to, but of slightly lighter construction than, another barrel in the collection, accession no. 2018.152.
