Comments

This 2-gallon jar was turned on a potter's wheel, but the top and bottom parts of the body moved out of round before the jar was fired.  The cobalt-blue decoration has three repeats of flowers with leafy stems that encircle the jar below a molded recess near a thick rim.  The treatment of these motifs suggests a tie to Grier pottery.  Grier operated a kiln in East Nottingham, near Oxford, Pennsylvania.

The lid that accompanies this jar is of different clay and glaze.  It is likely not original.
