1820-1860 4-7/8 in x 4-7/8 in x 3-1/2 in (dia) Porcelain, enamel, gilt

Historic Odessa Foundation, The David Wilson Mansion, Inc.

The rim exhibits a few chips, the gilt decoration is worn, the blue enamel is worn on one side.

Ex coll. Mrs. E. Tatnall (Mary Corbit) Warner

This cylindrical mug has an interlaced strap handle.  Raised floral decoration suggestive of that found anchoring 18th century strap handles is slightly separated to each side.  It suggests a later date for the mug (also sometimes called a tankard).  Similarly, the blue decoration looks later as does the Chinese chaacter opposite the handle.  A narrow gilded band encircles the outside of the mug at the rim.
