This tall, slender wine glass draws decorative inspiration from strawberry-diamond glasswares of the 1820s and 30s, a motif that encircles the bowl near the rim. The baluster-shaped stem recalls stems of other glasswares of that time, but this stem is faceted, whereas the earlier prototypes are not. This wine glass departs from the earlier wine glasses in its proportions, which are tall and slender. Also, the foot has a band of circles or dimples around the top near the edge. The wine glass looks like cut glass, but it lacks the sharp-edged feel of cut glass. Instead, this wine was molded, a fabrication technique consistent with the absence of a pontil mark or polished pontil on the underside of the foot.
