Comments
The window seat and its mate (seat .2 was photographed) were made to fit into a recess in front of a window. The backless seat has two scrolled arms, a bowed front, and stands on four cabriole legs carved in the French style. The legs, made of beech, have been stained to imitate mahogany. It is upholstered in velvet.
The legs are carved all the way around the back, where they stand against the wall. Another indication of out-of-period work lies in the brackets flanking the legs. They have very thin laminations--far thinner than period practices.
