Comments
Bowls and other lathe-turned utensils, such as plates, were called treenware and were less-expensive substitutes for similar objects made of ceramic, pewter, or other materials. This treenware bowl shows distortion from shrinkage. The bottom was turned with a small ring around the base suggesting a foot, but the bottom is now worn almost smooth. The rim has also worn smooth.
