Inscription
London hallmarks include an “i” date letter for 1744-1745 and a lion passant. The maker's touchmark has “JJ" with a crown above and a device, probably a fleur-de-lis, below the initials. The marks are oriented in different directions.

The engraving and the hallmarks are worn from users holding the skewer.

Comments
The skewer is a long, flat bar of silver that tapers to a point at one end. The opposite end has an integral ring into which a larger ring is attached. An engraved armorial device of some sort is on the face opposite hallmarks.
