Comments
The profile portrait of George Washington Janvier shows a stylish young man at about 25 years old. At that stage in his life, he was studying for the ministry in the Presbyterian Church. Within two years, he was asked to serve as pastor of the Pittsgrove Presbyterian Church in New Jersey, and he married in 1813.
Francis Janvier also left Odessa. He married in 1805 and lived in Princeton, New Jersey, with his wife and her family. Francis created the marimba, acc. no. 1981.20, which demonstrated his musical interests on the one hand and his painting abilities on the other.
