Comments
The dessert glass is similar in shape to contemporary wine glasses--note the disk foot and disk stem--but the bowl is broader and deeper, in keeping with its function. The bowl has a band of cross-hatching cut with a copper wheel. The cross-hatching stops at a plain panel with engraved initials, presumably those of its first owner. The base of the bowl has 12 broad facets cut into it. Each corresponds to the 12-sided wafer or disk above the short stem, itself with a disk in the center. The round foot has a polished pontil on the underside.
