The image in this daguerreotype shows Mary Wilson Corbit in a bonnet, seated with her 5-year-old daughter, Mary Cowgill Corbit, standing at her right side and holding onto her.

The daguerreotype case is made of black leather with yellow or gold lines at the top and bottom and a brass clasp.
