Comments
The short, stubby spout suggests that this lidded container is for chocolate rather than coffee. Its tapered sides and lid have asters painted in an airy composition, perhaps acknowledging Asian decorative influences. A bee hovers near the join of the handle. A diamond-shaped mark of the British Patent Office Registry of Designs (established in 1842) incorporates the letter K in the right corner denoting 1883 as the year of manufacture.
