Comments

The cast, urn-shaped container has a screw-on domed cap with holes pierced in it and an acorn-like finial.  The urn body stands on a foot with a molded base.  This table object was made for shaking its contents.  It was called either a caster or a pepper pot.

The outside bottom, where such object were often marked by their makers, has a possible mark too faint to read, in part because solder or some other material, along with possible dents, has disturbed a portion of the underside.  Alternatively, what looks like a possible mark may simply be a bit of unevenness in casting the caster.
