Comments
This candelabra or two-armed candlestick was probably made in England, or possibly France or elsewhere on the continent. It is a complex object with adjustment for height and a scalloped tray for a scissor-type wick-trimmer and a snuffer. The two candle sockets attach to arms that fit into sockets that allow them to swivel, providing further adjustment of the lighting. The brass baluster fitting near the top of the steel shaft, just below the stirrup-shaped handle, has a rectangular open pocket indicating that another fitting of some sort accompanied this candelabra. The domed base is weighted to provide stability.
